Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent passes away at 74
Jan-Michael Vincent, star of the big and small screen, has died at the age of 74. Per a report from the BBC, the actor died on February 10 of this year while admitted as a patient in a North Carolina hospital.
Vincent was perhaps best known for playing helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke on the hit TV series Airwolf, which ran from 1984 to 1987. Aside from his role in Airwolf, Vincent was nominated for two Golden Globes, the first for the 1971 film Going Home and again in 1984 for miniseries The Winds of War.
Born in 1947 in Denver, Colorado, Vincent made his first appearance on screen in the 1967 television film The Hardy Boys: The Mystery of the Chinese Junk under the name Mike Vincent. He appeared in TV and movies throughout the 60s, 70s, including roles in series like Lassie and Dragnet. On the big screen, he starred in the 1976 action film Vigilante Force alongside Kris Kristofferson and Victoria Principal, as well as the sci-fi spectacle Damnation Alley in 1977. He also starred alongside Kim Basinger in the 1981 drama Hard Country.
Following his role in Airwolf, Vincent was never able to replicate his success and became a fixture of low-budget films. His last credited role was in 2002’s White Boy. He retired from acting seven years later.
Vincent is survived by his third wife, Patricia Ann Christ.
