Variety reports that the upcoming series adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel Brave New World will be heading to USA with a straight-to-series order from the cable network.

The series was originally set for adaptation at SYFY with Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor (Happy!) attached as the showrunners and writers, but the series has now moved to USA and has added Homecoming writer David Wiener to the crew who will act as the showrunner.

Owen Harris will executive produce and direct the pilot for the series while Taylor and Morrison will executive produce the series and the former will remain on as a consultant. Amblin Entertainment is still attached to produce the project alongside Universal Content Productions.

Considered one of the most influential genre classics of all time and named fifth among the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th Century by Modern Library, the 1931 novel looks 632 years into the future and anticipates new developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that combine to profoundly change society.

UCP previously worked with Morrison and Taylor for the Syfy adaptation of the graphic novel Happy! written by Morrison, which starred Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Patton Oswalt (A.P. Bio) in the titular role, which received very positive reviews in its first season.

The grimy crime black comedy features Nick Sax, a corrupt, intoxicated, ex-cop turned hit-man adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, Nick finds a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail and a monstrous killer in a Santa suit on the loose. But his world is about to be changed forever by Happy, a tiny (imaginary) blue winged horse with a relentlessly positive attitude.

The second season of Happy! is set to premiere on Syfy on March 27.
