Captain Marvel is coming to theaters next month, and it has already been receiving flak over Brie Larson’s comments about white men. This resulted in angry fans bombing Rotten Tomatoes with negative “reviews.” Recently, the social media embargo lifted, with critics’ reaction being very positive. With all the commotion, Captain Marvel is still on course to be a huge hit at the theaters with presales beating out Wonder Woman, Deadpool and Aquaman.

Fandango, the movie ticketing company, has announced that Captain Marvel is doing great with presales. Of course, Black Panther is still king at the #1 spot for top superhero origin films in presales. Check out the top five superhero origin movies in presales (two weeks before release date) below:

  1. “Black Panther” (2018)
  2. “Captain Marvel” (2019)
  3. “Wonder Woman” (2017)
  4. “Aquaman” (2018)
  5. “Deadpool” (2016)

If we were to include the presales for all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Avengers: Infinity War is at the top spot, with Black Panther in second and Captain Marvel in third.

Synopsis: The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and written by Boden, Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer from a story by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Joe Shrapnel, and Anna Waterhouse. It stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronin, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass, Rune Temte as Bron-Char, McKenna Grace as young Carol Danvers, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Jude Law as the Starforce Commander.

Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8, 2019.
