Billy Eichner, Nick Stoller and Judd Apatow teaming for Universal Rom-Com

Deadline reports that Emmy-nominee Billy Eichner (American Horror Story), writer-director Nicholas Stoller (Storks) and writer-director-producer Judd Apatow (Trainwreck) are teaming up for an upcoming romantic comedy at Universal Pictures.

The film will follow two men who have commitment issues who attempt to enter a relationship with each other. Eichner will star and pen the script.

Stoller, who previously worked in the romantic comedy genre on the hits Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Five-Year Engagement, is set to direct and co-produce the film. The 42-year-old writer-director-producer most recently co-wrote the big-screen adaptation of the hit children’s novel series, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, as well as helping co-write the Kevin Hart-led comedy Night School and the upcoming live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer.

Eichner is well-known for his work on the comedy game show Billy on the Street, for which he was nominated for three Emmys. He was most recently seen in the Netflix dramedy series Friends From College and the seventh and eighth episodes of the hit FX series American Horror Story. He will next be seen in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the acclaimed Disney classic The Lion King as Timon, which is set to hit theaters on July 19.

Apatow is one of the more celebrated contemporary writer-director-producers for the comedy field, making his debut with the acclaimed 2005 Steve Carrell-led The 40-Year-Old Virgin, as well as the acclaimed romantic comedy Knocked Up starring Seth Rogen (The Lion King), the dramedy Funny People starring Rogen and Adam Sandler (Grown Ups 2) and 2015’s Trainwreck, which was written by and starred Amy Schumer (I Feel Pretty). He will be returning to the director’s chair for the big screen for an upcoming untitled comedy, which he is co-writing with star Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live).
