A Quiet Place cast returning for 2020 sequel

Following yesterday’s news that the film would arrive in 2020 and John Krasinski will return to direct, The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that A Quiet Place stars Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns), Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck) and Noah Jupe (Suburbicon) will reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel.

Despite initial plans for the sequel to not follow the Abbott family from the original film, it appears the story for the sequel may have a more established plan to bring them back now that negotiations have begun to bring back the three cast members.

THR reports that the only hitches in the potential casting would be the fact that the story is expected to create a bigger budget for the project since the first one only cost around $17 million to make and grossed over $340 million globally. Simmonds and Jupe are under option at the studio, and therefore could receive pay bumps, while Blunt’s salary is generally in the seven figures. Blunt was reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut given the predecessor was her husband’s passion project, so it’s possible she will take a pay cut once again.

The sequel is currently slated to hit theaters on May 15, 2020.
