Back in November of 2018, Microsoft announced that mouse and keyboard support was coming to the Xbox One. This would allow players to utilize the newly added peripheral to not only their favorite existing games (limited list currently) but future releases as well. As of right now, there still hasn’t been a first-party keyboard and mouse released by Microsoft specifically for the Xbox One. Meaning you can grab that old keyboard lying around and plug it in to start using on your Xbox. But the real question is, do you really want to do that?
This is where Razer comes in, as they’ve decided to help us gamers out that want exclusive peripheral parity with our console. The Razer Turret (officially announced at the end of last year) is the premier wireless keyboard and mouse combo available for the Xbox One. That’s correct, it is already available for purchase through the Official Razer site for $250.
First off, it’s running the Chroma lights found on almost all Razer products, which of course is customizable through an app downloaded to your Xbox. There’s also a new feature called Xbox Dynamic Lighting, which has particular keys lit in different colors that are integrated with the specific game you’re playing. For example, the F1-F4 keys will be lit in red to denote health, and F5-F8 will be in blue to denote health. Just small touches like that to better immerse you into the game you’re playing is innovative.
Like most gamers that play on console, I sit on a couch or a chair to game and not a desk. So I was concerned if this would be addressed. Razer thought of that and not only extended the base for comfort but built the keyboard with a slide-out magnetic mouse surface. If you’re worried that the magnetism will impact your gameplay, it’s already been considered. Only the far-right edge of the pad is strongly magnetized, with it lessening the closer you get to the keyboard.
I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on this to try out across many of my games. As of right now, there are only 22 games that allow keyboard and mouse:
- With Xbox Dynamic Lighting
- Children of Morta
- DayZ
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Gears of War 5
- Gears Tactics
- Moonlighter
- Roblox
- Strange Brigade
- Vigor
- Warhammer Vermintide 2
- X-Morph: Defense
- Without Xbox Dynamic Lighting
- Bomber Crew
- Fortnite
- Minecraft
- Minion Masters
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
- Sims
- Surviving Mars
- War Thunder
- Warface
- Wargroove
- Warframe
