NanoLeaf unveils new shape for canvas lights

If you’ve ever wanted to give your room a little pop of color, smart bulbs such as the Philips Hue or LIFX gave you the option to make your desired room a little bit more lively. But beyond setting your favorite color, smart bulbs lack that certain je ne sais quoi that really makes your room stand out.

Nanoleaf, a company founded in 2012, has been producing mountable light panels that give homes, offices, or apartments a sense of vibrancy. The Nanoleaf canvas is its first-ever touch controlled smart light that was a modular system and had music sync built in, which gave users an immersive lighting experience.

The Nanoleaf came in two different shapes, squares or triangles, but at this year’s CES, Nanoleaf indulged us by revealing a new shape coming soon to its product line. The new hexagon shape will be a sleek six-sided design that will open up to more imaginative configurations. The new design will be touch-enabled and will allow you to connect up to 500 hexagons per control hexagon.

Aside from the brand new shape, Nanoleaf also introduced a brand new mounting rig. This rig, which is meant for commercial installs, lets users easily set up their Nanoleaf canvas by simply snapping in light squares. Previously, to mount your canvas lights, you would have to use 3M mounting tape, or something similar. But with the new mounting rig, it will let Nanoleaf users easily replace light squares with its no-hassle snap removal.

The new Hexagon shape is set to release sometime in Q4 of this year, with the mounting rig releasing in Q3.
