Mare of Easttown: Kate Winslet to star in HBO limited series

TheWrap brings word that Oscar and Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet (The Reader, Steve Jobs, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) will star in the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown.

In the series, Winslet will play a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder as her life crumbles around her.

Winslet is known for her roles in movies such as Titanic, The Reader, Steve Jobs, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Revolutionary Road, and Quills. She also starred as Mildred Pierce in the TV mini-series of the same name. Her upcoming projects include Avatar 2, Blackbird, Ammonite, and voice roles in Manou the Swift and Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin.

Mare of Easttown was created and written by showrunner Brad Ingelsby (Run All Night, Out of the Furnace, Torrance) The new series will be directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant, Torrance, Pride and Glory).

Mare of Easttown is an HBO co-production with wiip. Winslet, Ingelsby, and O’Connor will executive produce along with Gordan Gray for Mayhem Pictures and Paul Lee and Mark Royal through wiip.
