A Hellboy reboot is coming starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour. We’ve seen a photo of the actor as the red superhero, and he was looking buff and menacing. Well, a new trailer has been released to give us a better idea on what the film is like.
After watching the trailer, the movie is definitely lighter in tone. In fact, the movie has jokes one after another, making the movie seem like a comedy with Billy Idol’s “Mony Mony” playing in the background. It starts off with a cop shooting at Hellboy, and he shouts back with, “Hey, I’m on your side!” The cop replies, “Sorry, my bad.”
In another scene, Hellboy enters a fish and chips restaurant that’s a front for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense and is asked by an old lady about his ID.
“Um, are you serious?” asks Hellboy.
Hellboy is based on the comic by Mike Mignola and has been adapted for the big screen by director Guillermo del Toro (Blade 2, Hellboy, Hellboy 2, Shape of Water, Pacific Rim).
The movie is directed by Neil Marshall (Netflix’s Lost in Space, Westworld, The Descent) from a screenplay by Andrew Cosby. It stars Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Professor Bruttenholm, David Harbour as Hellboy, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Thomas Haden Church as Lobster Johnson, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, and Sophie Okonedo as Lady Hatton.
Hellboy hits theaters on April 12, 2019.
The trailer has been getting some flak. Check out the reactions below:

that HELLBOY trailer makes a great case for GDT’s near-obsessive use of practical effects to create the creatures in his movies — which is to say, every beast in this looks Real Bad

Hellboy didn't need this.

And then there are those who aren’t fans of the new version of Hellboy’s face:

Others have even said it has turned Marvel, implying that it is filled with comedy and is lighter in tone.

Of course, the reactions aren’t all bad. Artist Enabuns did a little guide about being okay with the new look.
