British-based video game company Rebellion has expanded into a $100 million studio space. According to Variety, Rebellion purchased an old print works building to convert it into a fully-functioning production studio as part of their move into TV and films. This, of course, includes their upcoming TV series Judge Dredd: Mega-City One and its upcoming feature Rogue Trooper, directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft).

The studio is located in Didcot, roughly 50 miles west of London. The 220,000-square-foot space previously served as a printing press for the Daily Mail newspaper. This means it comes equipped with large soundproofed areas. This will help fast-track the availability of the space after Rebellion makes the renovations it needs to house its new business ventures.

I think we are pretty good at creating content in all different types, screen content and interactive games and all sorts of stuff, and I’m hoping we’re going to be equally good at making TV and film,” said Rebellion co-founder Jason Kingsley.

In addition to their own projects based on characters they own the rights to, the studio will also function as a third party outlet to help the entertainment industry in Britain, which is need of more space for productions overall. They also expect roughly 500 new jobs will be created as a result.

Rebellion is best known for the Sniper Elite and Strange Brigade video game franchises, has been picking up several comic book properties in recent years, including 2000 AD. Characters from the 2000 AD comic are expected to appear in both the Judge Dredd series and Rogue Trooper.

Kingsley produced the 2015 film Dredd, along with his brother Chris, which starred Karl Urban as the futuristic lawman. He’s currently in talks to reprise the role on the small screen.
