DJI unveils new Osmo Pocket Camera

With consumers’ need to capture almost every moment of their life, cameras have gotten smaller and more powerful over the years. Today, at an event in New York, DJI has announced their brand new Osmo Pocket Camera, a small three-axis camera that will be capable of capturing photos with a 12-megapixel sensor and 4K videos up to 60fps. It makes it easy for people to capture life’s precious moments.

DJI has innovated the way we use aerial drones and camera gimbals for photography and videography throughout the years, and they’ve shown no plans of slowing down with their new Osmo Pocket. The camera is designed to be operated easily with the use of one hand. The handle will feature a non-slip and sweat-proof grip to maximize comfort.

To see what you’re capturing, DJI has incorporated a 1-inch touchscreen monitor that will allow you to frame your shots and go through the camera’s settings. For some the 1-inch size might be too small to clearly see things, luckily DJI has included a modular port that will allow users to connect their iPhone or Android smartphones to have a bigger viewing screen. Along with the Pocket Camera, DJI has created a dedicated app to pair with the Osmo. The app will let users access some of the camera’s shooting modes such as First-Person View, ActiveTrack, Motion Lapse, Nightshot, and Panorama mode.

To stay true to the “pocket” design, DJI has engineered the OSMO to be extremely small and portable. The entire unit measures at 121.9mm x 28.6mm x 36.9mm and weighs 116g. The camera sensor measures in at 1/2.3 inches and will have an 80-degree field of view with a f/2.0 aperture. The battery will last for about 140-minutes if you’re capturing video in 4k resolution at 60fps.

The Osmo Pocket Camera is available for pre-order today with a price tag of $349 with units shipping out sometime in December.
