The Alpha

American Horror Story: Apocalypse Episode 4

Langdon felt the presence of Cordelia, Myrtle, and Madison. Cordelia told Coco and Mallory that both had been placed under an identity spell, which protected them from knowing their true identities. Langdon arrived in the main foyer and confronted the witches. Three years prior to the bomb, a group of warlocks was practicing spells and managed to turn crystals into a cannonball. The teachers were summoned by Ariel, the grand-chancellor. He showed them a police video where a warlock killed a police officer during their interrogation. Ariel believed that this boy could possibly be the Alpha, the warlock who would be able to become the most powerful magic user in existence. This boy was revealed to be Michael Langdon. Ariel visited him in prison and tried to convince Michael to come to his school.

Beginnings

Michael was freed from prison by Ariel, he was taken the building that was now functioning as the outpost. Michael was introduced to all of his fellow warlocks and they accepted him into their ranks quickly and warmly. The administrators administered the end-of-first-year exam to Michael, after only one month of training. They told him about the legend of the Alpha and how there has never been a warlock that powerful before. Langdon successfully completed his scrying test. He then passed his teleportation test, and then was tasked with modifying the weather within a single room. Michael successfully completed that test, but lost control and nearly killed the administrators. Later, in a conference with the other administrators, Ariel observed that Michael was the most powerful warlock he had ever seen.

At the school for witches, we are introduced to Mallory’s previous identity. She was being administered the entrance test and Cordelia noted that she was a particularly powerful witch. Cordelia was notified by Myrtle that the warlocks had called an emergency meeting at the Hawthorne school (the outpost). The witches arrived at Hawthorne’s and were told by Ariel about Michael. Cordelia and Myrtle immediately dismissed their claims. Arial asked for Cordelia to administer the test of the Seven Wonders, Cordelia refused. We learn of Cordelia’s failed trip to the Hotel Cortez (from Hotel) to rescue Queenie. Michael had scried his way into the conversation with Cordelia, he learned of the Hotel and went to rescue Queenie. Michael successfully freed her. Madison had been trapped in her own personal hell, until Michael freed her.
