Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the new DC animated film, The Death of Superman, which is now available on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD. Based on the iconic DC crossover event, Superman will go up against Doomsday, who wants to destroy everything in his path, and that includes the Justice League.
DC Universe Movies previously released Superman: Doomsday, which was also based on the same comic book crossover, but it was a 75-minute movie that had to focus on a smaller storyline. With The Death of Superman, the team is able to spread the story out into two parts, with the second film coming out in 2019 called Reign of the Supermen. The films also bring in more moments and characters from the comic book event.
Synopsis: The Death of Superman ultimately finds Superman in a fight to the finish when the Man of Steel becomes the only hero who can stand in the way of the monstrous creature Doomsday and his unstoppable rampage of destruction.
The film features Jerry O’Connell (Sliders) as the voice of Superman, Rebecca Romijn (X-Men) as Lois Lane, Rainn Wilson (The Office) as Lex Luthor, Jason O’Mara (The Man in High Castle) as Batman, Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Netflix’s Daredevil) as Wonder Woman, Shemar Moore (S.W.A.T., Criminal Minds) as Cyborg, Nathan Fillion (Castle) as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan, and Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty) as The Flash.
The film is co-directed by Sam Liu (Gotham by Gaslight, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract) and Jake Castorena (Justice League Action) from a script by Peter J. Tomasi (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights).
