Ruby Rose is an Australian DJ who starred in John Wick: Chapter 2 as a mute assassin and the upcoming The Meg starring Jason Stathom. Soon DC fans will get to see her as Kate Kane, aka Batwoman, on The CW.
According to Deadline, Rose will play the titular character, Batwoman, and she’ll be joining the Arrow and Flash universe. The casting is fitting since the new version of Batwoman and Rose are lesbians. The CW shows have featured action and drama, but romance also plays a big part. Who can forget the love story between Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, Barry and Iris, or Supergirl and Mon-el? (Don’t answer that.)
Rose will be making her first appearance as Batwoman in The CW superhero crossover event in December. In addition, she’ll be returning in the Batwoman series, which is being developed for the next season.
Synopsis: Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet.
In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
