Valor will not return for a second season

After the announcement today that The CW’s drama Life Sentence had been canceled after one season, the network’s military drama series, Valor, has met the same fate and will not be returning for a second season.

Valor debuted on The CW’s fall 2018 schedule but did not receive a back order. Its first season ended in January 2018, averaging a total of 958,000 viewers and a rating of 0.21 in the Adult 18-49 demo. The CW has so far renewed 11 series for the 2018-2019 television season, including Supernatural, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, Black Lightning, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, Riverdale, The 100, and Dynasty, which was actually beat by Valor in the ratings – Dynasty averaged 697,000 total viewers and a .19 in the demo.

Valor stars Christina Ochoa (Animal Kingdom), Matt Barr (Sleepy Hollow), Charlie Barnett (Chicago Fire), Corbin Reid (How to Get Away With Murder), W. Trè Davis (Shades of Blue), Nigel Thatch (Selma) and Melissa Roxburgh (Star Trek Beyond). Valor came from CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television and was executive produced Bill Haber (Rizzoli & Isles), Anna Fricke (Being Human), and Kyle Jarrow (Lost Generation) and Michael Robin.

The series explored how the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a US Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions. The drama unfolds in the present as well as in flashbacks to a failed mission involving one of the first female pilots in the unit, ultimately uncovering layers of personal and government/military secrets, and leading to a season-long plan to rescue a group of MIA soldiers.

The news was first reported by Variety.
