Deadpool is no stranger to pop culture references, having dropped countless different ones within his first movie in 2016. For the upcoming sequel, all bets are off, except for his potential new owner, The Walt Disney Company. Speaking with EW, star, producer, and writer Ryan Reynolds revealed that one joke was cut from the upcoming Deadpool 2 and it had to do with the House of Mouse.

“This is a sore spot for me because there’s a joke in the movie that is not in the movie now because — I’m probably not even allowed to say this — Fox made me take it out,” Reynolds said. “It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision.”

Reynolds has already confirmed that he knows as much about the impending sale of 20th Century Fox to Disney as the next guy, but he does admit there is a joke about Disney’s Frozen in the sequel.

The uncertainty of what’s going to happen also hasn’t stopped Reynolds from thinking about the future for the character and his films, once again citing his desire for a team-up with the now retired from X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman.

“He’s alive and well in my timeline,” Reynolds says of the character Wolverine. “There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that… I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best.”

It remains to be seen how the Fox-owned Marvel properties will be integrated into the plans of Marvel Studios, and whether the merger of the two companies will even come to fruition, but Reynolds remains as dedicated to the Merc with a Mouth as ever.

Deadpool 2 will be released May 18 and you can check out the first clip from the film in the player below!
