Deadline has reported that Disney is currently in talks with A-list actor Jake Gyllenhaal to play Mysterio. Quentin Beck was the most popular Mysterio in the Spider-Man realm and would be described as “a special effects wizard and stuntman working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job. His attempts to become an actor were poorly received, but he realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain.”
There were rumors that Jake Gyllenhaal might take over the helm of the Dark Knight if Ben Affleck was to step down, but since he will be playing a major villain in the MCU, this would certainly debunk those rumors. Mysterio hasn’t really been portrayed yet in the Spider-Man films and was once rumored to be played by actor Bruce Campbell in the Sam Raimi series of films.
Currently, little is known about the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming as the fallout from Avengers: Infinity War has left many unanswered questions regarding Spider-Man’s well-being. What do you think about Jake Gyllenhaal playing Mysterio?
