Kristen Wiig confirmed as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2

Well, one of the worst kept casting secrets as of late is finally confirmed. Over the past couple of weeks, rumors have been flying that Kristen Wiig will be playing Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. So far reactions have been lukewarm, to say the least. Despite all that, Patty Jenkins confirmed that Kristen Wiig will indeed play Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2.

“So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot”

Regardless of what you think about Jenkins’ choice, this is definitely an outside-the-box type of casting decision. That is to say, it can be really good or it can be really bad. Outside-the-box choices have worked before. For example, let’s take a look at the past two Jokers. Back when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, the Internet was all up in arms. Today, fans consider him to be the best Joker ever. Now, when it came to Jared Leto as the Joker… Well, the Internet got it right that time. Leto’s Joker was off-the-wall and weird but not in a good way.

For all we know, Jenkins’ decision to cast Kristen Wiig as Cheetah could be a great one. After all, Jenkins is a huge fan of Wonder Woman and isn’t the type of person to mess it up. Not to mention, she did give us the best film that the DC Extended Universe has put out there.

Also, for those of you unfamiliar with the Cheetah character then here’s some information. Cheetah is one of the archnemeses of Diana. She typically has feline characteristics whether it’s through a costume or mutation.
