Over in Japan, Pokemon Co. held an opening ceremony for Pokemon Center Tokyo DX and Pokemon Cafe. This event was intended to give press a look at the locations before their opening to the public tomorrow. Pokemon Center operating officer Kamisato was on-hand at the event to share some tidbits about the new locations, as well as Pokemon Center operations in general.
- sales at various locations such as Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo have seen a 13% increase in 2017
- Pokemon Center Tokyo DX along with Pokemon Cafe will make up the largest Pokemon property in terms of space occupied
- the locations take up a combined 1322 square meters of floor space
- this is the first time The Pokemon Company will open an official and permanent Pokemon Cafe
- as of March 12, over 13,000 people have reserved a seat at the Pokemon Cafe, which is 93% of the cafe’s capacity
- a special “memory walk” in Pokemon Center Tokyo DX showcases the history of the Pokemon video games/trading cards
- there's a screen which allows visitors to view the PokeDex in 9 different languages
Japanese celebrity Ami Kikuchi took the stage a bit later to reveal the menu for the Pokemon Cafe, as well as some merch available at both locations. There will be a mini fan given to customers who purchase 5,000 yen or more of merchandise at Pokemon Center Tokyo DX.
