Black Ops is the top-selling series in the history of Call of Duty, and Activision has announced today that it will be back with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Fans should mark their calendar for the Community Reveal Event on May 17th.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches worldwide on October 12th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The Black Ops series has been developed by Treyarch, the same developers who worked on one of my favorite Spider-Man games, Spider-Man 2.
The first Black Ops game took place during the Cold War and featured protagonist Cpt. Alex Mason (Sam Worthington). Blacks Ops 2 took place in two different timelines, the Cold War and the Second Cold War in 2025. Black Ops 3 went further into the future in 2065 for a third Cold War.
If Treyarch follows the pattern from the previous games, we may see a fourth Cold War that probably takes place after the year 3,000. Maybe they’ll pull a fast one and have the game go back into the first Cold War since last year the Call of Duty franchise went back to World War II with Call of Duty: WWII.
Either way, it should be interesting to see what Activision and Treyarch have in store for fans once the Community Reveal Event hits.
