Latest Ready Player One poster goes full Drew Struzan

Ready Player One Trailer #2 - Tye Sheridan

Fandom is already at an all-time high with each and every Ready Player One Easter egg reveal. The latest Ready Player One poster may get fans more excited about the film. First off, there is a clear influence by movie poster maestro, Drew Struzan. When hand-drawn poster art used to be the norm, Struzan’s posters were the cream of the crop. Drew Struzan didn’t draw this particular piece but you may recognize the work of the man who did. Paul Shipper did the theatrical poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Next, the poster offers us a new look at Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance’s characters. Not to mention, you get to see some of the avatars used by our heroes and villains on the OASIS.

However, the thing that’ll get every geek’s attention is all of the Easter eggs on the poster. Here are some of the Easter eggs on the poster:

  • Spike Spiegel’s Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop on the right-hand side.
  • The DeLorean from Back to the Future at the bottom.
  • The RX-78-2 from Mobile Suit Gundam on the right-hand side.
  • The Iron Giant from The Iron Giant on the right-hand side.
  • The mega-popular Bigfoot monster truck from the 80s on the left-hand side.
  • Space Invaders shirt on Mark Rylance on the right-hand side.

So did we miss an Easter egg? If you’ve found one that we’ve missed, be sure to let us know in the comments section below!

[Ready Player One] is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 29th.
