Kendrick Lamar releases tracklist and release date for Black Panther The Album

If you’re Kendrick Lamar then you’re probably having a really busy week. After dominating the Grammys on Sunday, he’s about ready to unleash the work he did on Black Panther The Album. Of course, there’s a good amount of pressure on Kendrick to deliver big. After all, Marvel Studios has had a recent string of successful soundtracks with Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

However, this isn’t that type of album. This isn’t a mixtape of classic songs but an original album by rap’s biggest artist. Essentially, this is Kendrick Lamar’s latest album. S not only is there a good amount of pressure but hype as well.

Well, today, Lamar tweeted the cover art and tracklist for the upcoming album and boy, is it full of heavy-hitters. In addition to Kendrick, the album includes artists like The Weeknd, ScHoolboy Q, Khalid, 2 Chainz, and Future. Needless to say, that’s just a small sample of the artists on the album. Kendrick and Top Dawg Entertainment may have outdone themselves here.

Not to mention, he unveiled the release date for the album as well. Black Panther The Album will officially drop on February 9th. That’s one week prior to the release of Black Panther.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16th. Black Panther The Album drops on February 9th.
