The Slender Man movie is coming, and Sony has released the trailer for the upcoming horror film. Imagine that, a creature that originated as a creepypasta internet meme is now getting the Hollywood treatment.
I have heard about the tall and creepy man, but it was the video game, Slender: The Eight Pages, that got me really interested in the scary figure. It was one of the scariest games I’ve ever played.
The Slender Man creation has created some controversy, including two 12-year-old girls stabbing another girl of the same age. Their reasoning is that they wanted to impress the fictional character.
The trailer does a good job of holding back on revealing Slender Man. Let’s just hope the actual film can deliver on a creepy and solid tale along with some horrifying sequences. The forest clips so far feel pretty tense.
If this movie is a success, let’s hope Five Nights at Freddy’s will get the film treatment.
The film is directed by Sylvain White (The Losers, Stomp the Yard) and stars Joey King (The Conjuring) as Wren, Julia Goldani Telles as Hallie, Jaz Sinclair as Chloe, Annalise Basso (Ouija: Origin of Evil) as Piper, Talitha Bateman (Annabelle: Creation), Javier Botet as Slender Man, Alex Fitzalan as Tom, Kevin Chapman (Mystic River) as Mr. Jensen.
Slender Man hits theaters on May 19, 2018.
