The Tekken World Tour Finals held yesterday treated fans to the world’s top talents duking it out, digital fisticuff style. All day the tournament had been filled with upsets and other surprises, but no one could have predicted last night’s big reveal. Shortly before starting the top 8 portion of the tournament, Tekken 7’s director Katsuhiro Harada came on stage to thank the fans and share some insight into the technical side of Tekken 7. Harada then teased the audience with a Merry Christmas and left the stage, leaving the crowd in laughter before airing a reveal trailer for an upcoming Tekken 7 DLC character.
The trailer opened up to Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis taking a phone call. And before seeing any gameplay, the crowd began bursting out into cheers and excitement for this surprising addition.
Noctis will have multiple weapons, magic and warp strike abilities at his disposal to take on the Tekken 7 cast. He and the Final Fantasy 15 stage are scheduled to release as part of DLC 3 in the spring of 2018. Noctis’s addition to the game will serve as a pure roster increase. And although his reveal trailer gave off the impression of having a friendship with Tekken’s Lars, it was only for promotional purposes.
Noctis looks like a great addition to the roster and appears fun to play, but only time will tell and lucky we don’t have long to wait.
Check out the reveal trailer below and let us know in the comments what you think about this latest franchise crossover.
Tekken 7 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. And as stated earlier, Noctis and his stage will release in Spring 2018 as a part of DLC 3.
