Sometimes we read the news and all the information coming out of Hollywood, and there just comes a time where you have to stop what you’re doing, and re-read the sentence. Make sure you re-read the title of this article.
No, the title is not mistaken. Yes, Michael Bay, the man behind several “explosive” films such as the Transformers franchise, the recent TMNT franchise, and the Purge franchise, is set to produce a live-action movie of one of children television’s most lovable adventurer, Dora the Explorer. Bay has teamed up with Platinum Dunes Andrew Form and Brad Fuller to produce the live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon series.
Nick Stroller, who directed The Muppets and Neighbors, will be writing the script for the film. The adaptation has been in studio hell since 2015, but it seems that with the Bay-hem team riding shotgun on the project, wheels are starting to turn for the film. Much of the information has been under wraps, but according to THR the film will see Dora aged up from her seven-year-old TV roots, as she will be a teenager who moves to the city to live with her cousin, Diego.
I’m not sure how I feel about Michael Bay being a part of this film. There are a lot of directions that he’s taken beloved franchises, and not all of them were good. In fact most of them. So now that he’s out of things to ruin in my generation, now he’s moving to the next victim. But who knows, right? Besides, College Humor already covered this:
