Coming from a Kotaku interview with Trinket Studios president Tom Eastman...
“Each type of cookware—like if you boil, pan fry or bake something—would change those textures and tastes. Chicken, when you boil it, would get dryer over time, but spinach might get more moist. It was way more spreadsheet-heavy than we wanted. How detailed do you want your dough system to be? Do you literally add salt and sugar to it and different kinds of butter? How long do you spend rolling out the dough and folding it over? Can you make pastry that way?”
It seems like the team started off with an idea that was simply too complicated and wasn't much fun. They scrapped the prototype and took a different approach, which leads us to what we see in Battle Chef Brigade. It still looks a bit complicated to me, but I'm definitely intrigued!
