Sanrio announced today the re-opening of their store at the Japanese Village in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. The store will hold two official grand re-opening event this weekend, starting on Friday, August 18 – Sunday, August 20th and next weekend – Friday, August 25th to Sunday, August 27th. The August 25th weekend will be in conjunction with the Nisei Festival, an annual festival celebrating Japanese and Japanese American culture and history in Little Tokyo.
The front of the store has remained the same, with products all around for your Sanrio needs, including Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, Keroppi, and many others. There will also be new products from the new characters, including Gudetama and Aggretsuko.
The rear of the store has been changed to include the Sanrio Kawaii Mart, which debuts this Friday. It is a convenience store-styled market modeled after both Japanese & American convenience stores, the mart was inspired by the pop-up Hello Kitty Yata Supermarket in Hong Kong.
The Sario Kawaii Mart will offer a candy & beverages to beauty products from Korea and even car accessories, toilet paper and diapers! New items will be added as the seasons’ change. Sanrio Kawaii Mart will stay open through the Fall; at which time the flex space will transform into a new concept.
The grand opening weekends will include character appearances, giveaways, and gifts with purchase while supplies last. Guests will also be treated to character crowns! The Sanrio store and Sanrio Kawaii Mart will be open daily: Monday – Saturday 10 am – 10 pm and Sunday, 11 am – pm.
