Top Nintendo Switch titles including Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids® Kingdom Battle and Pokkén Tournament DX will all be playable at Insomnia61, the UK’s biggest gaming festival, taking place 25th–28th August 2017 at The NEC, Birmingham.
These games will be complemented by a selection of fun, casual multiplayer activities on the Nintendo stand for titles including Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, 1-2-Switch, Flip Wars, Puyo Puyo™ Tetris® and many more.
Elsewhere in the hall, Nintendo will be hosting a Nintendo Switch Tournament Area that will play host to some special competitive activities, as well as doubling up as a Bring Your Own Nintendo Switch, or #BringYourOwnSwitch, area that will let gamers dock their own Nintendo Switch to play whatever they want! Feel like starting a winner-stays-on session of ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II: The Final Challengers? Want to show off your favourite shield surfing route in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? This is the area to do it!
The special Nintendo Switch Tournament Area competitive activities are as follows:
Friday 25th August – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe UK Super Series Grand Final
12 qualified racers from Belong Arenas will join competitors that sign up and compete at Insomnia61 to find the champion of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe UK Super Series! Sign-up at the Nintendo Switch Tournament Area from 11am. Everyone is eligible to enter, but please bring your own Nintendo Switch to guarantee access to your favourite kart setup. Spaces limited.Saturday 26th August – Insomnia61 Splatoon 2 Tournament
Sign-up at the Nintendo Switch Tournament Area from 11am, either as a full team or as a squid for hire, and take part in an intense Splatoon 2 competitive tournament! Everyone is eligible to enter, but please bring your own Nintendo Switch or a compatible amiibo with your preset loadout registered to it to guarantee access to your favourite weapons and gear. Spaces limited.Sunday 27th August – Nintendo Players UK ARMS Invitational
The Nintendo Switch Tournament Area will host the Nintendo Players UK ARMS Invitational on Sunday 27th August! Following qualification at independent events hosted by the groups of the Nintendo Players UK community, 16 of the UK’s best ARMS players will face off to be crowned Nintendo Players UK ARMS Champion, and attendees at Insomnia61 will be able to see the fierce battles take place! Bring your own system and you might be able to challenge the champ…Insomnia61 will be held on 25th–28th August 2017 at The NEC Birmingham.
