Cowboy Ninja Viking has been in the works with Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) in the starring role. Now we have news from Universal Pictures announcing the release date for the comic book movie, and it will be coming to theaters on Friday, June 28, 2019. However, it’s going to have some competition with the sixth Transformers film.
The film stars Pratt as an assassin who has the skills of a cowboy, ninja, and Viking. It’s based on the Image graphic novel by writer AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. It follows a man with multiple personality disorder who undergoes training to become a deadly assassin (these assassins are called Triplets).
Universal had their eyes David Leitch (Atomic Blonde) and Chad Stahelski (John Wick, John Wick 2), but the pair has been focusing on their own projects including Deadpool 2 and John Wick 3, respectively. For this reason, a director hasn’t been attached to the film yet.
The movie’s screenplay is written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, writers who have worked on Zombieland and Deadpool. In addition, Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II) has taken over with rewriting the script with Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner and Mark Gordon producing.
Are you looking forward to the film in 2019? Let us know in the comments below.
