An ensemble cast has come together for the modern day Mark Twain adventure The Peanut Butter Falcon

Armory Films today revealed the full cast for The Peanut Butter Falcon, the upcoming Mark Twain inspired contemporary adventure drama, written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz. Academy Award Nominees John Hawkes (The Sessions, Winter’s Bone), Thomas Haden Church (Divorce, Sideways) and Bruce Dern (Nebraska, The Hateful Eight) will join Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, Marvel’s The Punisher) and Yelawolf alongside Shia LaBeouf (American HoneyLawless), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of GreyHow to Be Single) and newcomer Zachary Gottsagen.

The Peanut Butter Falcon tells the story of Zak, a young man with Down Syndrome who has been confined to live in a retirement home for most of his life. One day he breaks out and takes to the road to try to find his hero, a retired wrestler named The Salt Water Redneck. Along the way Zak joins forces with a desperado crab fisherman and a kind nurse. Adventures are had, danger is faced and unshakable bonds are formed. Principal Photography is underway in Savannah, Georgia.

Armory Films’ Tim Zajaros and Christopher Lemole are producing The Peanut Butter Falcon and are financing the film, alongside Bona Fide Productions’ Academy Award Nominees Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine, Nebraska). Academy Award winner T Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart) will also produce alongside Lije Sarki, and David Thies. Burnett is also set to produce the Peanut Butter Falcon soundtrack.

“Along with our partner T Bone Burnett, we have nothing but love for this excellent cast,” say Berger and Yerxa in a join statement. “We’re thrilled to be working again with some of our favorite actors mixed in with actors we’ve long admired and wildly talented newcomers. There’s a great sense of commitment and energy on everyone’s part to bring this unique story to life.”
