Randall Park has been cast as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, the Tracking Board revealed.
The upcoming sequel of 2015’s Ant-Man will see the return of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the title characters – Ant-Man and the Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Peña are also set to return as Hank Pym and Luis. Tip “T.I.” Harris and David Dastmalchian will also return as part of Lang’s crew – Dave and Kurt.
Petyon Reed returns as director for the film. Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari wrote the screenplay. The film will see the rise of Lilly’s character Hope Van Dyne as The Wasp fighting alongside with Ant-Man, post-Captain America: Civil War.
Park plays Agent Jimmy Woo, a Chinese-American FBI agent who was first introduced in the espionage series Yellow Claw and gradually began to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. to work alongside with the Avengers. In the comics, he eventually became the charismatic leader of a worldwide conspiracy called the Atlas Foundation.
Park stars in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat and HBO’s Veep. He is best known for his work as Kim Jung Il in The Interview. He worked with Rudd previously in the 2014 comedy They Came Together. He could be seen in this summer’s The House and Snatched. Park will be seen next in James Franco’s The Disaster Artist. Ant-Man and the Wasp will be Park and Agent Woo’s first introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In other casting news, Hannah John-Kamen is the only new cast member that was previously announced, but her role was not revealed.
Filming is scheduled to begin this month in Atlanta.
Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to release on July 6, 2018.
