David Strathairn joins The Expanse season 3
Syfy and Alcon Television Group have announced that Academy Award nominee David Strathairn has officially joined the cast of The Expanse for its upcoming third season. The only details provided about Stratharn’s character is that he will have “a significant arc.”
David Strathairn’s notable performances include his portrayal of famed American broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck, which earned him an Academy Award nomination, and as Dr. Lee Rosen in Syfy’s Alphas. His impressive body of work also includes Lincoln, The Bourne Ultimatum, Godzilla and We Are Marshall. Strathairn most recently appeared in Amazon’s Z: The Beginning of Everything, NBC’s The Blacklist and Showtime’s Billions.
Syfy’s The Expanse, an hour-long sci-fi drama set two hundred years in the future, follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective (Thomas Jane) and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. The successful series is based on the novel of the same name written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck under the pen name James S. A. Corey.
The Expanse will have a significant presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year for fans in attendance including a panel in the Indigo Ballroom at 5PM on Saturday July 22.
The third season of the series is currently filming in Toronto and will premiere in 2018.
