Anime Expo recently made an announcement that Ryo Horikawa (Japanese voice of Vegeta) and the English voice cast of Dragon Ball Z will be attending the convention. The English voice cast includes Sean Schemmel (Goku), Christopher Sabat (Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, and more), and Jason Douglas (Beerus). FUNimation announced that the group will be holding panels, autograph sessions and even a special look at the history of Dragon Ball.
Ryo Horikawa
Ryo Horikawa was born in Osaka, Japan, and he is a Japanese actor and voice actor. He made his debut in voice acting in the anime series Dream Soldier Wing-man in 1984 (as Kenta Hirono). One of his famous roles is Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series. He is president of Aslead Company, a Japanese talent agency. He is also the president of International Media, a voice talent academy in Japan.
Horikawa previously attended as a Guest of Honor at Anime Expo in 2012.
Seán Schemmel
Seán Schemmel is a professional voice actor, director and musician. He is best known as the English voice of Goku for the hugely popular anime, Dragon Ball Z. Known for his vocal versatility, he has also voiced dozens of characters for numerous animated series and video games. They include Pokemon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fallout 4. Schemmel has starred in the feature films Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods & Resurrection ‘F’ and is reprising his roles as Goku and King Kai in the new hit Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball Super, currently airing on Cartoon Network.
Christopher Sabat
Currently tallying well over 500 roles in his career, and an active part of the voiceover industry since 1998, Chris has voiced many Dragon Ball Z characters. He is looking forward to taking on the role of the incomparable All Might in the epic My Hero Academia. He is noted as an early employee of Funimation Productions. In addition, he has brought many other popular characters to life. These include Alex Luis Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Woerman (Attack on Titan). When he’s not in the studio, he likes to play with his adorable daughters, make electronic music and buy vintage Pumas and airline glassware on eBay.
Jason Douglas
Currently appearing as ‘Tobin’ on The Walking Dead, Jason Douglas has also been a recurring guest on AMC’s Breaking Bad, ABC’s Nashville, and El Rey Network’s From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series. Feature film appearances include Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back and No Country for Old Men. Voice characters include fan-favorite roles of ‘Beerus’ in the new Dragon Ball Z films and games and ‘Krieg the Psycho’ in the popular Borderlands 2. Furthermore, Jason is one of anime’s most prolific voice artists. He has voiced lead characters in nearly 200 titles including Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, RWBY, and Attack on Titan.
Anime Expo 2017 is heading to the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 1st to 4th.
