Nintendo grabs three-dimensional trademark for Mario's hat in Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo has just filed for a trademark related to Mario's hat in Super Mario Odyssey. This is a three-dimensional trademark that pertains to clothing, plus rental of auto mobiles. Sounds like this is yet another attempt from Nintendo to stop the MariCAR go-kart business in Japan from renting out Nintendo-related costumes.
