Gotham takes place before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman. Throughout the seasons, we are slowly seeing Bruce continuing on the path to becoming the Dark Knight. He got a taste of street fights in the third season, and he’s been introduced to the idea of a symbol that can help save Gotham. *cough* Bats *cough*.
The current season also had the return of Jerome, and he came back with a bang. We also have Edward Nygma fully embracing his new persona, the Riddler. He has been terrorizing Gotham by setting up traps and leaving a mysterious box with a question mark.
In the middle of all the chaos are James Gordon and Harvey Bullock still trying to uphold the law. That’s going to be hard with the Court of Owls running the show from behind the scenes. Gordon is trying to infiltrate the Court, and he gave up the Riddler in order to become an official member.
In the last episode, we saw Selina Kyle fall to her “death”, no thanks to Bruce Wayne’s doppelganger. A clowder of cats appears in the dark alley and starts to surround her fallen body. (This was definitely an homage to Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.)
With Gotham season 4 happening, viewers will get to see the continuation of Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming the Bat, Selina becoming Catwoman, and more.
Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the Riddler, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, and Maggie Geha as Poison Ivy.
Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon, and John Stephens are Gotham’s executive producers. Warner Bros. Television is producing the show.
