It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Ralph, Vanellope, and the Wreck-It Ralph crew. Last year, it was announced that Ralph would be returning to break the Internet and now, the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is finally given a title… A really long title. During Disney’s short presentation at CinemaCon, Disney officially titled the Wreck-It Ralph sequel: Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. Try saying that five times fast.
Don’t expect Ralph Breaks the Internet to be released this year, though. Disney Animation won’t be releasing a film this year but will be releasing Ralph in March next year.
Disney also announced that John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer will be returning and Rich Moore (Zootopia) and Phil Johnston will be directing the film.
“This time, Ralph’s wreaking havoc on the web—as only he can do,” Johnston said. “The world of the internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope. The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”

The shift from the gaming world to the Internet world is an interesting one. The gaming world and the mixture of video game characters was one of the most appealing things about the original. Ralph trying to be a good guy in a world that has labeled him an outcast is an emotional tale. However, Johnston’s comment about Ralph breaking the Internet “as only he can do” is an interesting concept. There are so many ways that it can be as emotional as the original but there are many pitfalls as well. Besides, Disney Animation has been on an absolute tear and I am looking forward to continuing Ralph’s adventures.
