Today marks quite a prolific day for the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland. It celebrates its 30th birthday since it opened at the park. When you really sit back and think about it, 30 years is quite a long time that this ride has been around, albeit being Star Wars-themed. I recall the first time riding the ride, although it wasn’t at Disneyland, but at MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) park in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the greatest things I experienced being a Star Wars fan.
Since then, there’s been a myriad of changes that the attraction has undergone. In 2011, Lucasfilm did an entire update including adding all new scenes and destinations in 3D. Most recently in 2015, we saw the addition of a scene from The Force Awakens and the destination of Jakku. With Episode VIII on the horizon, you bet your bottom dollar that we’d be seeing a new scene and destination again. According to Disney Parks Blog, they state that ” an exciting new mission based on elements from Star Wars Episode VIII currently in production.”
So who knows what we might see, flying alongside Rey and Chewie in the Millennium Falcon? Or maybe Poe in his X-Wing? What do you think we’ll see in the new upcoming scene? Let us know in the comments below.
