A series of rumors this morning from Kotaku stated that the Microsoft Exclusive Scalebound, by Platinum Games, has been cancelled. Now, a statement from Microsoft to IGN has confirmed said rumors:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
They did not comment on reasons for the game’s cancellation. Scalebound was announced at E3 2014 as a new IP from Microsoft and Platinum Games, being directed by Hideki Kamiya, known for the Bayonetta series.
It’s a sad thing to see a game cancelled, especially this late into development. All that hard work for something that will never come to fruition, unless maybe another company swoops in to save the day (looking at you Nintendo).
Are you disappointed by the cancellation of Scalebound? Please ventilate in the comment section below!
