Star Wars has confirmed Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of the upcoming untitled Han Solo film.
The film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Emilia Clarke, is set in the past during Solo’s early smuggler days. Harrelson is said to play the young Solo’s mentor. The film is scheduled to be released in 2018.
Film directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said in a press release, ““We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
Harrelson is an Emmy-award winning actor and two-time Academy Award nominee with over 90 credits in television and film to his name. You could see Harrelson next in the upcoming comedy Wilson (March 24th) and as the villain in the summer sequel War for the Planet of the Apes (July 14).
