Author of the graphic novel, Haven of Dante, and the children’s book series, The Jupiter Chronicles, Leonardo Ramirez has decided to make a change in the new year by doing something rather unorthodox, but will benefit young readers and families, alike: he’s going to feed a family for every book sold.
The “Buy a book, feed a family” campaign is set to launch early this year, and give fans and readers an opportunity to to be a part of a cause that will support more than just the author himself. During the spring of 2017, Ramirez will be finishing his third book in the Jupiter Chronicles series, The Orb of Terra, and instead of just thinking about his own personal gain, much like his protagonist in his stories, Ramirez wishes to inspire hope by offering fans a chance to be a part of something greater. Through his crowdfunding campaign on his website, Ramirez has asked for support in finishing his third book, but also, is informing fans that he will be sending proceeds to Nolensville Food Pantry to help families in need.
Growing up in a similar home where food was scarce, and funds were low, Ramirez is all to familiar with the families that the Nolensville Food Pantry will feed. Through this campaign, not only will he be creating another great chapter in the children’s steampunk series, but also will be giving some families the opportunity to have a warm meal at the end of the day.
