Seems like it is going to be a pretty busy day at the Sony PlayStation Experience. With already a few major titles announced, famed developer Naughty Dog decided to close out the show with the huge announcement that the long awaited sequel to the multi award-winning The Last of Us would be coming. The debut trailer was premiered during today’s press conference with the video opening with a shot of a forest and zooming out to what appeared to be a deserted town. A roar came over the crowd when they immediately recognized the Fireflies symbol on a stop sign.
We see a much more grown up version of Ellie singing a folk song around a bunch of corpses strung throughout the house she sits in. A shadowy figure walks over the room where Ellie sits. It’s Joel. Joel asks her if she really wants to go through with this and Ellie proclaims that she plans to kill them all.
Judging from the trailer we can only assume that she means the Fireflies. Interesting enough, we don’t ever get to see Joel’s face, but it’s hard not to recognize Troy Baker’s distinct voice.
