Lego has the rights to so many different IPs that it is rivaling Funko when it comes to the characters they can create. To illustrate that, Lego is introducing some new Marvel characters into its minifigs line coming in January.
First up is Ms. Marvel. The current Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan, is Marvel’s first Muslim character to hold a solo title and has carried the mantle of Ms. Marvel since 2013. Kamala is featured in the set “Captain America Jet Pursuit” which includes her with elongated arms that show off her beloved shape-shifting ability. Also included in the set is Captain America, Adaptoid and a jet.
The “Hulk vs. Red Hulk” set includes Hulk, Red Hulk, She-Hulk, and Red She-Hulk. Like most comic characters, She-Hulk has gone through many changes since her initial creation in 1980, but she is currently one of Marvel’s most progressive female characters and a fighter for social justice. Not only is this the Lego debut of She-Hulk, but also for Red Hulk and Red She-Hulk. The set also includes what appear to be some sort of battle dune buggies.
Finally, a set called “Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes,” is also being released and includes Justin Hammer in a massive robot suit, Invincible Iron Man and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Agent Phil Coulson! And what is Coulson with out his beloved classic S.H.I.E.L.D spy car, Lola, complete with flight conversion capabilities.
It is incredibly cool of Lego to shine some light on these characters that are some what lesser known to mass audiences. Though, as a fan of the show, I am probably most excited for Coulson and Lola. What about you? Will you be picking any of these up come January?
