Ever since the season 2 finale of Rick and Morty, fans have been tirelessly searching the web for any news on when we might expect to see the third season of the hit TV show.
At the beginning of the year, Dan Harmon, one of the co-creators of the show, had rumored that they were targeting the premiere to happen around the end of 2016. Tears of joy soon turned into tears of sorrow as show writer Dan Guterman revealed that even a release in late December would be nearly impossible.
But still, fans held fast and remained hopeful that we might see the season 3 premiere some time before 2017. Unfortunately, some recent news indicates that there is just no way.
In a recent reddit AMA, Dan Harmon danced around the subject when asked if there was a set premiere date. Harmon eventually replied, “We are going as fast as we can my brother.” This rumor was further confirmed when co-writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener explained to iTechPost that even though the scripts are done and the animation is under production, the whole animation procedure is very time consuming. They continued on to state that the show cannot be expected to air until sometime next year.
We will just have to wait patiently until we can once more bask in the raunchy science goodness that is Rick and Morty. With each new rumor, it seems like Mr. Poopybutthole was in fact correct when he said that Season 3 would probably air in a year and a half or something. Should this be true, we can expect the premiere in March of next year.
