It seems it’s not just humans who enjoy the soothing sounds of Scottish actor David Tennant. Animals seem to enjoy it too and may actually help them calm down from stressors like fireworks, loud noises, or your occasional cucumber.
The UK company MORE TH>N Pet Insurance has created their first film for your pets scientifically designed with the intention of reducing stress caused by fireworks and loud noises. According to the site, the film is designed to be played a number of times to cats to help combat nervousness and stress brought on by noise phobia. David Tennant lent his voice for the occasion.
According to Mirror UK, MORE TH>N worked with animal behaviorist Karen Wild and veterinarian Robert White-Adams to ensure the films used scientific techniques to calm the animals. Two videos were produced – one for cats and the other suited for dogs.
The movie for the dog ‘Woofering Heights’, based on the classic 1847 novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, is shot entirely from a dog’s perspective, including the color spectrum of blues and yellow. The film for the cat is called ‘Peer Window’, an homage to the 1954 Hitchcock film Rear Window. The film is set on a window frame, which reflects a cat’s habitual behavior of staring outside a window daily.
The site offers abridged and unabridged versions of the videos.
To those in the UK celebrating Bonfire Night on November 5th, MORE TH>N recommends playing the videos to cats and dogs a number of times, allowing them to become familiar with the content.
