“18 years I’ve hated Wilford. 18 years I’ve waited for this moment. And now I’m here… Open the gate. Please.”
One of the best films of 2013, Snowpiercer is a dystopian film that follows what’s left of civilization after a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on the planet except for a lucky few, forcing the rest of humanity to board a train, aptly called the Snowpiercer. Aboard this train, a class system develops, causing an uprising amidst the lower classes, resulting in a daring attempt to break all barriers. The film was received as a cinematic masterpiece, despite hitting some snags with its distribution studio, The Weinstein Company. Now, after all the success, it seems that Snowpiercer is getting a second wind with the news that it will get the TV treatment!
According to TV Line, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles executive producer and writer Josh Friedman has been put on the block to produce and write the pilot adaptation of the futurtistic thriller, all to be aired on TNT. Friedman is also a part of the writing team for Cameron’s Avatar 2 and 3.
“Snowpiercer has one of the most original concepts to hit the screen in the last decade, and it’s one that offers numerous opportunities for deeper exploration in a series format,” TNT EVP Sarah Aubrey said in a statement. “We look forward to [this] take on a world where humanity is pushed to the extreme.”
