I’ve always thought that Angela Bassett would’ve been a great Storm in the X-Men films. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Even though she didn’t get to play the powerful mutant, this is probably the next best thing for a comic book film featuring the Oscar-nominated actress. Marvel has announced that Bassett will play T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda, in the Marvel Studios’ Black Panther film.
Bassett can be seen in the American Horror Story series.
The film is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) and stars Chadwick Boseman as the titular character, Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba.
Marvel’s Black Panther slashes into theaters on February 16, 2018.
