While there isn’t a definitive show for video game awards, many tune into The Game Awards to witness exclusive reveals and to see if their favorite games win their respective nominations. While most nominees aren’t up to viewer votes, a select few are such as “Best eSports Player”, “Best eSports Team”, “Best eSports Game”, “Trending Gamer”, “Most Anticipated Game”, and “Best Fan Creation.”
Oddly enough, two of the four nominees for “Best Fan Creation”, AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) and Pokemon Uranium, have been removed from the list. Now fans have to choose between Brutal Doom 64 and Enderal: The Shards of Order. This is a bummer, but hardly surprising considering Nintendo’s stance on user-generated content starring their IPs. Both AM2R and Pokemon Uranium were shut down by Nintendo so good luck trying to find those games anywhere on the interwebs. There was no official statement from The Game Awards or Nintendo regarding the disappearance of these nominations.
#am2r has been removed from the video game awards nominees. Thanks guys, it was really cool while it lasted. https://t.co/DXu6XmkYVG
