The Halloween season is here, and that means people are going to be excited to come out of their shells to dress up like their favorite characters… or something hilarious, sexy or original. If you want to dress up as a Jedi or Sith from the Star Wars universe, then you can’t go wrong with getting a saber from UltraSabers. The company offers all types of sabers including ones inspired by Kylo Ren’s lightsaber and ThunderCats. Even if you don’t want a saber for Halloween, these are still cool for collecting and/or performing stunts. For this review, we’re going to be checking out the Manticore Stunt Saber.
I received the standard mid-grade 36-inch blade made from a white polycarbonate, aka Ultraedge. This is definitely my preference over the non-Ultraedge blades since the LED lights fill up the blade quite nicely. You can compare the Ultraedge and non-Ultraedge blades below. (Manticore’s Ultraedge mid-grade blade is at the top, and the Renegade LE regular mid-grade blade is at the bottom. There’s a bigger difference in person.)
The blade lights up thanks to the LED driver powered by 4 AAA batteries. You can switch out the batteries easily by unscrewing the pommel.
The saber’s hilt is made of aircraft aluminum with removable emitter and pommel. You have the option of switching them out for other designs.
The ones I received were the emitter inspired by Darth Maul’s lightsaber and the Prophecy pommel (see below).
You can have the option of getting the heavy-grade blade, which is thicker than the mid-grade version. To be honest, the mid-grade blade is pretty durable. We have tested out the mid-grade blade against a tree with great force, and it was still intact. You can see an example in the video below.
For those wanting an extra oomph to their saber, you can add sound effects for an additional cost.
The blade is pretty bright and looks very cool in the dark or at night.
The Manticore blade is definitely one of the coolest blades UltraSabers has to offer. The hilt is sleek and shiny and the blade shines bright and is durable. This is definitely one that Star Wars fans should add to their collection.
