It was my first time attending the Scream Zone from San Diego County. The scream zone is a worthy event to go to in the month of October if you live in the area. There are three maze options: House of Horror, Haunted Hayride, and Karnevil. Out of all these mazes, I would give the best rating to the House of Horror, then the Haunted Hayride, and my least favorite was Karnevil.
Karnevil was a short maze that probably took up around less than 3 minutes to finish. There is no true direction as to where to go in this maze, so Karnevil was literally a maze that you had to find a way to exit. It was the shortest and the least scary out of the three.
The Haunted Hayride was an innovative idea since you are riding in a wagon. In the ride there is hay beneath where you’ll be sitting with up to 15 others. This was an enjoyable ride since it’s something unique; all I needed to do was sit in a moving wagon and watch some masked actors run along side to scare you.
The House of Horror was longer and creepier than the rest. Each sector inside this maze had five different themes after going through each new black curtain. I walked more cautiously in this maze since I was more terrified at what might pop up next to me. All the actors did an efficient job ensuring that no one takes out their phone; they will demand you to put away your cellular device while staying in character. There was a point in the maze where the hallways were pitch black, which was more irritating than scary because you had to feel your way through by touching the walls. Most people end up taking out their phone for the flashlight anyways.
Overall, the actors were daunting; they would show no mercy even if you were curled up in the corner. I would recommend going to the Scream Zone if you happen to be in the area or stopping by in town.
