The prolific cast of Black Panther has just grown by four. Marvel has announced the Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Winston Duke (CBS’s “Person of Interest”), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), and Florence Kasumba (Captain America: Civil War) have all joined the cast of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther.
Forest Whitaker will be playing Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda. Winston Duke will be playing M’Baku, the leader of a rival tribe in Wakanda. Daniel Kaluuya will be playing T’Challa’s confidant W’Kabi. Last but not least, Florence Kasumba will be reprising her role from Captain America: Civil War as Ayo, a member of the fierce female bodyguard corps, the Dora Milaje.
Whitaker, Kaluuya, Duke, and Kasumba joins a cast that already has Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther/T’Challa and Michael B. Jordan as the lead villain, Erik Killmonger. Lupita Nyong’o will be playing Nakia and Danai Gurira will be playing Okoye. In the comics, both Nakia and Okoye were the first members of the Dora Milaje to serve under T’Challa.
